The gospel as it relates to abortion.
My name is Melissa Arris. I am a mother, teacher, creator, and entrepreneur. My calling is to lead people into the presence of God and if you’re reading this or under the sound of my voice, my prayer is that you have a tangible and spiritual encounter with the living God and that he reveals himself to you like never before. I was born to raise God's children young and old, to re-present God to the lost and found for transformation in Christ, to raise an army, and to help establish a generation of strong families as pillars of godly community.
Today, I am going to present to you based on Scripture that Jesus Christ of Nazareth is Pro-Choice. Furthermore the christ response to the abortion crisis is not more law but more grace. Abortion bans are a tool of the enemy to further oppress the people God has called us to minister to, to rebind us to the law, and to curse us. I did not want this assignment. When He gave it to me and spoke about the persecution that would follow as a result I did not want it. The lies of the enemy crept in immediately telling me you’ll never be able to do ministry again, the church will kick you out, your family will disown you. But I trust in the Lord and will do His will, whatever it costs me. This word was given to me just after Roe vs. Wade was overturned. Over the last two plus years He has been revealing to me His character, his grace for mankind, and the human condition. It’s been the most incredible journey of my life. I know, this truth is going to #upsettheworld and the religious people are already canceling me but those who truly seek Truth, please stick with me, and by the end, I hope the Holy Spirit shatters your entire reality. I pray God shows you a side of himself that you may have never seen before. A glimpse of first love again. I believe if you really catch this word and cherish it and begin to live it out you will experience the more abundant life Christ Jesus promised to all who believe.
First, this is a very touchy subject with strong convictions on both sides and I want to be so sensitive to those harmed by abortion, abortion bans, infant loss, unwanted pregnancy, and being unwanted, abused, or abandoned by parents. I’m sorry for your suffering; and I would never, and could never, minimize that. It is valid, your pain is valid. The consequences of what happened to you are real. Ungodly and devastating things happen in the world, and I want to hold space for you and say I’m so sorry for what you have suffered. Would you join me in a moment of silence for those suffering all over the world right now? I pray that you allow the Lord to heal your heart and that you surrender your life to His perfect love, and walk according to His commands, so that he may WORK all things together for your good, and His glory.
This is the gospel, straight from scripture. I am not here to tell you my opinion or debate that abortion is murder, where the line is, or what limitations should be set between a woman, her doctor, and God. This isn’t about those things. This is about the will of God on the Earth, and your heart.
This isn’t a message for “them” so don’t listen for someone else, and stop thinking about that hateful person you want to send this to. This is for you. As God says to the son of man in Ezekiel 3:10-11 “Let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself. Then go to your people.”
I believe God has a Word just for YOU. I am going to blast you with so much scripture you may have to watch this message in chunks but I implore you to open your heart to the one and only Bible, the Holy Word of God and to listen by the Spirit of the Lord. Living for Christ means giving up the right to have your own opinion, in exchange for His Truth. Life is not one size fits all. In this day and this hour, whenever you may be watching this. I believe the living God wants to come face-to-face with you. Your time is now.
Prayer:
Spirit of the living God,
-we thank you that there is no distance in you. (Psalm 139:7)
-We acknowledge you, we honor you, we invite you in. Would you speak to our hearts
-Would you lead us into all Truth (John 16:13)
-Hebrews 4:12 says “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
-Would you, the surgeon of Heaven, so sweetly with this blade cut us free, from flesh that has held us bound, excruciating though it may be, so that we might have victory in this life and eternal glory in Christ?
-Proverbs 20:12 says “Eyes to see and ears to hear both are gifts from the Lord.”
We received that gift by faith
-Lord Jesus, in your name, we take authority over every power of the enemy that would come against your Word and every demonic obstacle that would keep it from being received by your people and command it now be removed. May it find good soil and produce fruit 100fold.
-Lord and would you also generously grant us wisdom, understanding, & discernment (James 1:5, Proverbs 2:3-5)
-Would the good news be preached to the poor, the captives be released; awaken the dead, let the blind see, and let all who’ve been oppressed be free?
-Lord would they see you and not me
-Let only your voice be heard
-Would you bridle my tongue so that I would not speak a word, aside from what you said and how you said it? (Psalm 39:1, James 1:26)
-I know I will be held accountable for every word. (Matthew 12:36) (James 3:1)
-Hide me behind the Cross. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus, we pray,
AMEN!
1.) In the face of TOTAL wickedness God would wipe out nations and indeed all humanity before he would take away your choice.
Genesis 6:5-7 “Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great upon the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was altogether evil all the time. And the LORD regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, “I will blot out man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—every man and beast and crawling creature and bird of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them.”
God could make you obey Him. He is all-powerful, sovereign, Creator of the Heavenly lights. He can make limbs grow back, the crippled walk, the blind see, fire rain down from heaven, and he could make you obey him, (Deuteronomy 30:6) tells us God could literally “change your heart and the hearts of all your descendants so that you will love him with all your heart and soul and so you may live!” So why doesn’t he? Why didn’t he?
Maybe you’ve heard the saying “Jesus is a gentleman” Well it’s true he will never force you…. But why?? If he’s SO GOOD why doesn’t he just stop bad things from happening? There's a breathtakingly romantic reason. He wants our love. He wants us to choose… Him. He desires our worship and submission; Things are worthless without free will. Things that require the heart to be positioned in a very specific way; surrendered.
When the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary in Luke 1 and told her hey, luck girl, blessed among women, you’ve found favor with the Lord, the Holy Spirit will come upon you and you’ll get supernaturally pregnant with the holy savior of the world, verse 38 records her response “And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.” Why did God include this part of the story? Because even in the conception of our Lord, God cares about agreement. He uses people who are willing to partner with Him to accomplish His will on Earth. Imagine if Mary had said, “No, eh that would interrupt my plans and hurt my reputation, can you choose someone else?”
SO many “Christians” don’t want to be inconvenienced or have their plans interrupted by God. Well bad news, I am here to disrupt you.
(Deuteronomy 30:19) “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on Heaven and Earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life so that you and your descendants might live!
2.) Choice is the only thing that’s actually yours and the only thing you can give God. The Earth and everything in it is the Lords (Psalm 24:1), He gives and takes away (Job 1:21). You come in naked and you leave naked. What is the only thing the Lord God in Heaven wants from you, and what will you be judged on when your life is done? It’s your choices. Faith is a choice, worship is a choice, love is a choice, submission and trust are choices, and, hard fact, you can’t choose without options. God wants you to choose. And he wants you to choose him. Make no bones about it God is Pro-Choice… AND he wants you to choose life.
A study shows most adults make on average as many as 30k conscious choices a day. A DAY!! Jesus wants every single one of them. How many are you denying yourself and taking up your cross? How many of your daily habits have been trained by discipline, to be obedient to Christ and honoring to God? Jesus wants your time, your kids, your marriage, your sexuality, your career, your finances, your thoughts, he wants everything.
3.) The good news
If you’ve never given your life to Jesus Christ and made Him Lord, meaning letting him tell you what you can and can’t do and actually listening, or if you’ve strayed or grown calloused in your walk and are not currently experiencing the conviction of the Holy Spirit in your day to day life I’m going to explain why you should give your life to Christ and how to do it.
For context: In the beginning Elohim, the God of the Universe created everything that exists through his perfect child, the Light of the world. The Heavens and the Earth, all things were created by him, for him, and through him. (Genesis 2:15 ) The Lord God, by hand, planted a garden and sculpted a man from the dirt in his own image. He created humanity in his image to be like him, giving him mind, will, and emotions. He placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. He gave him dominion (which means sovereignty or control) over the Earth and all its inhabitants. This Word, this authority given to man to rule and reign over the Earth was so final, so eternal, that God will not do a thing on the Earth without partnering with a living being to do it. The Lord gave man everything he needed and walked with him daily. He lived in paradise. But God did something else, something necessary, God gave man options. See you can’t choose without options. (Genesis 2:16) “God commanded him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden, except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.” Eve, deceived by the serpent, for the first time in history, CHOSE to disobey God. Instantly sin entered our bodies and spiritual death entered the world. God cast man out of the garden; lest we choose to then eat the fruit of life and obtain eternity in this corrupted body, forever separated from God.
Now, before we bag on Eve, we are all deceived by the enemy and give a defeated devil power in our lives and over our minds. The Bible says “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Even now the Holy Spirit is likely bringing to mind your own sin. The choices you’ve made, or other humans have made, that defiled you, making you unclean; unworthy to stand in the presence of a Holy God. The Word says “The wages of Sin is death”, and that “without the shedding of blood there can be no remission of sins” (that means removal or cancellation of a debt). God is loving, merciful, kind, and all-knowing. He exists outside of our mortal concept of time. He knew from the beginning that if he gave us a choice we would inevitably choose wrong so he devised a wonderful and mysterious plan to reconcile humanity to himself. It was so simple… All they had to do was choose to believe.
From the very beginning of the Bible, examples of blood being shed to cover our sin was shown to us through scripture. When God made garments of skins for Adam and Eve after they sinned (Genesis 3:21), by His Spirit He foretold the coming of this glorious redemption that would be the covering for us. The coming salvation of mankind. The spotless Lamb, slain before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8). God sent His Son in flesh (Matthew 3:17, John 1:14). He willingly set aside his divinity, perfection, and glory, to take the place of a humble servant, no beauty that we should desire him (Isaiah 53:2, Philippians 2:6). Humbled himself to become the seed in the womb of a woman. This MAN was God in flesh. Fully God, fully man. He lived a sinless life, 33 years, perfectly revealing the will of the Father for mankind, fulfilling every prophecy.
(Jesus' life fulfilled over 300 prophecies. Peter W. Stoner and Robert C. Newman wrote a book entitled Science Speaks. The book was based on the science of probability and vouched for by the American Scientific Affiliation. It laid out the odds of any one man fulfilling just 8 of them is more than 1 out of 10 to the 17th power (that’s more than every person who has ever lived in the history of the World.) He was one of a kind.
Jesus, the human, got tired, and angry. He was hungry and he wept. He was betrayed and abandoned by those closest to Him. He suffered physical abuse, torture, public humiliation, and was brutally and publicly murdered. (Hebrews 4:15 says) For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.” he was obedient unto death, even death on a cross (Philippians 2:8) and the Son of Man was lifted up and the sin and shame of the whole world were laid upon Him. Pouring out his life, he bled until he died, so that everyone who believed in Him would be set free from the law of sin and death and have eternal life. Then immediately, swallowed by death, He descended into the underworld and faced off with the one who held the keys to death, hell, and the grave, and he won, (1 Peter 3:18-20, Revelation 1:18) so that the fear of death would not have power over his people. And it was not possible that the ground to hold him. On the third day God raised Him from the dead and his friends came along with him. Yes, the saints of old rose from the dead and walked around the Holy City appearing to hundreds of people (Matthew 27:52-53). The resurrected Christ opened the scriptures with his disciples, showing them how the verses pointed to Him and were fulfilled through Him. Then he commissioned them, and every disciple who would someday follow, giving them the authority and power of His own Spirit, commanding them to go forth into all nations making disciples and baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them (notice it doesn’t say forcing them), teaching them to obey all His commands, promising to be with them to the very end of the age. Then He ascended to Heaven having earned the name above every name, Yeshua, Jesus. He sat down at the right hand of the Father and what is He doing now? Romans 8:34 says He intercedes day and night for us. He literally prays for us, and pleads our case before the Father, because there is one (the enemy) who accuses the brethren (Revelation 12:10) and John 14:3 says that He is preparing a place for us and when everything is ready He is coming back, to get his bride, so that we can be with him where he is. He promised to take us to Heaven, where there will be no more pain, death, or sin, and there will be eternal imperishable rewards for our earthly toils. This is the gospel, this is the good news.
When we make the choice to believe, to put our faith in Christ, who died once for all, we are replaced. Galatians 2:20 “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
In Christ you can be set free from the sinful nature (Romans 6:5) “Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.”
In Christ, you can be free from the penalty of the law (Romans 6:15- 17) “Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you.”
4.) The trouble with the law: The enemy has tricked you so that he might rebind you to the law and curse you.
To walk in grace you can not judge by the law. (Matthew 7:1-5) “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.”
By getting you to CHOOSE to believe that others should be held to the law the enemy has tricked YOU into being judged by the law, and I promise you that you do not want to be under the law. Under the law, you have no chance. You are deserving of wrath but you need grace. If you don't feel free, if you as a Christian do not walk around every single day of your life praising God for freedom in Christ this may be why. Freedom is available to you, but by judging others according to the law, you place yourself under the judgment of the law, by which standard you fall insurmountably short.
Sinners can not obey the law.
(Romans 8:7) puts it this way “The sinful nature is always hostile to God, it never did obey God’s laws, and it never will” Another translation says “Indeed it can not”
(Romans 7: 14- 25) So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin. I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. But if I know that what I am doing is wrong, this shows that I agree that the law is good. So I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?”
I think we’ve all felt this way. Tired of cycles and habits we can’t seem to break. Falling short and missing the mark, again and again. Or, achieving success only to find it lacking. Left unsatisfied. Asking ourselves “Why did I blow my check again? Why did I text them that? Why can’t I stop eating? Why do I run to that addiction or unhealthy coping mechanism again and again and again?” One word… Humanity. We are doomed by the very flesh we are born into.
(Psalm 51:5) “For I was born a sinner— yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.” We are all born slaves to sin, by nature children of wrath (Eph 2:3). It might sound redundant but people living in sin do not care about obeying the laws of God. I have the honor and privilege of leading worship for Celebrate Recovery at Calvary PHX. One thing that every testimony has in common is the horrible and ungodly things that humans do to get what they want. The fact of the matter is sinners do not obey the law, because they can’t.
(James 2:10) “For a person who keeps all the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.” The same God who said, “You must not murder.” also said He detests eyes that look down on others. (Proverbs 6:16-19)
The Truth of the matter is “all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glorious standard” (Romans 3:23)
(Back to Romans 7:24) it continues “Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.”
(Romans 2:4) It is his loving kindness that leads us to repentance.
2.) Christians are not under the law
Christ fulfilled the blood requirement of the law and ushered in a new covenant of grace (Matthew 5:17-20) (Luke 27:20)
This one might check your theology (1 Corinthians 10:23) says under the new covenant “all things are lawful” If you want to be technical, in Christ ALL THINGS ARE LAWFUL.
If you get married, it does not change your autonomy. In reality, you can still do whatever you want. There is nothing physically stopping you from cheating or doing the things your spouse hates. Except, the love and respect that you have for them and the covenant that you made with them, convicts you to make choices that honor and please them. This is our covenant with Christ. He is our bridegroom and we are His bride.
3.) Christians are called to be Kingdom citizens before citizens of their nation.
The devil will institute all kinds of laws to try and restrict the worship of God and the advancement of the Kingdom, and like Esther, Daniel, or the 3 Hebrew boys we are called to stand against anything, even a law, that exalts itself against the Truth of God, and to serve him only.
(2 Timothy 2:4) says (I love me some KJV) “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”
(Ephesians 6:12) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
(Mark 12:17) Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” And they were amazed at him.
Now I’m not saying that as Christians we shouldn’t vote, we can and should, but we need to make sure that we are voting according to the covenant we have in Christ and not our opinions on how other people should live.
5) Busting the religious myths
Myth 1: every baby is God’s plan Example 1: (Galatians 4:21-23) “Tell me, you who want to live under the law, do you know what the law actually says? The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife. The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfillment of his promise.” Are you mistakenly fighting to birth Ishmael?
Example 2: the story of David and Bathsheba, (2 Samuel 11-12) go read it, and I’ll summarize. David saw her, took her into his palace, had an affair with her, got her pregnant, tried to cover up and when that didn’t work had her husband killed and the Word says “God was displeased with what David had done” so he sent the prophet Nathan to confront him and prophesy against him. Then God, himself, sent a deadly illness to kill the child
People ask me “don’t you care about the innocent babies and what they should have become??" No, I am not. The Lord will accomplish his purpose (Isaiah 46:10) I am not called to save lives. I’m here to save souls. The soul of that innocent child will go to the Father (2 Samuel 12:23) It is the soul of the mother trapped in sin that I am concerned with.
Myth 2: Everything happens for a reason. It’s all part of God's perfect plan. My testimony is up on my blog, it’s the first post if you want to go read it in its entirety, but I will share just a snippet. I spent 13 years trapped in relationships of narcissistic abuse. By God’s grace, I was delivered and I have been in recovery now for 2 years and 4 months. I had a complicated pregnancy with my daughter and we both barely made it. It was so bad they induced me at 37 weeks on the day (as soon as she was technically full term) and my daughter was born at just 4lbs. So tiny and fragile but absolutely perfect. The stress of the relationship was killing me. My hair was falling out, I was having heart palpitations and panic attacks. My resting heart rate was 95-100 and while exercising it was 160-180. Because of the wear of the constant fight or flight state of my nervous system, I was experiencing brain fog and memory loss and when coupled with the compulsive lying, gaslighting, crazy-making, and manipulation I really thought I was losing my mind. Daily I fought for the will to keep living and only held on for my kids. Two weeks after I gave birth the father of my child came home drunk and wouldn’t take no for an answer. I found myself pregnant again and I was devastated. I truly didn’t believe I would survive another pregnancy. Truthfully I didn’t know if I would even last through the first trimester hormones and I feared for the future of my children. At 7 weeks I had an abortion. I murdered my unborn baby; to save myself and the two living children I already had. I cried out to God, asking him Why? How could this be a part of his supposedly “good plan” for my life? I will never forget what he said. It radically altered my life. He said, “I don’t plan sin.”
The Psalms say of the Lord “You are good and you do only good; teach me your decrees.” “righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne, loving kindness and faithfulness go before you.” (Psalm 89:14, Psalm 119:68)
God went on to show me the difference between His perfect will and his permissible will. It was never his plan for me to be violated, but he chose to allow it so that I could share this message. I still grieve sometimes, but I don’t regret it. My two living children still have a mother. One who would go to the ends of the Earth for them. As David said, “Someday I will go to him, but he will not return to me.” People will argue that the situation was an exception because it was rape but I was so in bondage, my mind so darkened, that I never would have condemned him. Not even to save myself.
Many people are quick to get on the defensive or even offensive, demonizing those with convictions on the other side of this issue. We have no idea what those individuals, who have made the incredibly hard decision to end a life, went through and probably never will. God does though. All life is sacred to God, he does not lose a soul. While they will be held responsible for the temporal life that they took, each person will be held responsible for the immortal souls he has called them to touch and minister to. Have you faithfully completed every work, every assignment that the Lord has given you? Is it possible your own delay in obedience is causing eternal implications?
(Ezekiel 3:17-19) “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.”
That book you haven’t written, the Word you never shared on social media, or with your coworker, or the sales clerk, the money you didn’t give, the nonprofit or business he put on your heart 10 years ago, the enemy you were supposed to pray for and forgive. Have you snuffed out the gifts of God before they could bring life and purpose to those He intended?
Each person is given gifts, and before each person the Lord has laid out good works to walk in (Eph 2:10) There is a time coming of judgment when every person will give an account for everything done in their time on the Earth and every idle word spoken. What you chose to do with everything that the Lord gave you. None will escape. What will your response be?
I know what mine will be: “I trust in Jesus.”
5.) So what are we supposed to do?
We are called as Christians to love, care for, and minister to the women seeking abortion. Christians should be concerned with fulfilling the great commission. Only when a person is baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit can they have power over sin. If we are called to fight for the unborn we should be lining up to give pre and when necessary post-abortion counseling, offering aid and resources, and most of all Grace and Truth. This is what Jesus preached.
I’m going to give you some biblical descriptions and CDC stats (from 2020-2022)
Widows: The Hebrew word for a widow is almana (al-maw-naw) Strong’s H490. It translates as widow, desolate house, or desolate place. It comes from the root word alman (al-mawn) Strong’s H488 which translates as forsaken, widowed, in the sense of bereavement; or discarded (as a divorced person). In Greek the word is χήρα chera (khey-rah) Strong’s 5503. Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance defined it as “a woman lacking a husband literally or figuratively.” for purposes of protection, provision, and leadership. It comes from a root Chasma (khas’-mah) Strong’s 5490, meaning a gaping opening, a chasm, or a gulf. Please hear me by the Spirit, I am in no way trying to diminish the status or suffering of women whose love has died, but I must draw attention to the fact that for intents and purposes of the precepts of God, the word “widow” in the Bible encompasses single moms and divorced women. Original Hebrew only had about 7000-8000 words. There was no word for single mothers because it was not the epidemic we see in America today. In 2022 in the US 25-50% of children depending on the state are born to unwed mothers.
Hagar, the only single mom in the Bible, shows us that God allowed her to conceive, “through human effort, an attempt at fulfilling God’s promise” (Galatians 4:23). From her story we know that although a woman may conceive in sin or be abandoned by the father of her children, God sees them and the gaping hole in their family. It’s where we get the name (Jehovah El Roi). Their story shows us that though it wasn’t His plan or design, God sees single moms in their struggles and he provides.
86.3 % of all women who seek abortions are single and conceived outside of marriage.
If you want to see what the letter of the law says about babies conceived outside of God’s design for marriage go read Numbers 15:11-32.
Although the original Hebrew does not have a word for single mothers it does have a word for their fatherless children.
Orphans: yatom (yaw-thome) H3490 definition “a bereaved person, fatherless child, orphan.”, from a root word meaning to be lonely. In Greek, the word is ὀρφανός (orphanos) as defined by Strong’s Concordance “deprived or robbed of parents, father, guide, or guardian. Of uncertain affinity; parentless, comfortless, or fatherless.” 60% of women seeking abortion list their reason being they already have a child, 50% have 2 or more children; 86.3% of them fatherless children.
75% of those seeking abortion are considered low-income and 49% live below the federal poverty level. Effectively “the poor”. Those who were denied abortion were more likely to be living in poverty 4 years later and less likely to have a full-time job and rely on government or public assistance.
Widows and orphans, the poor and the oppressed. These are the very people God has commanded us to serve and care for.
(James 1:27) “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”
I love word studies. Go dig into the original language of the Bible any time a word jumps out at you and watch the Lord expand your understanding. One more fun one. This word “distress” in the Greek is thlipsis (Strong’s 2347). It is translated as persecution, affliction, distress, or tribulation. It means pressure (literally what constricts or rubs together, [as in friction]), and is used to describe a narrow place that "hems someone in", specifically an internal pressure that causes someone to feel confined, restricted, "without options" or that there is "no way of escape" Thayer's lexicon: also lists anxiety or burden of heart.
A thought for consideration. Of all the women seeking abortion, how many do you think are living as slaves to sin, oppressed by the lies of Satan? How many may feel there is no way of escape, suffering an internal pressure in which they feel they have no other option? I know I did.
(Deuteronomy 27:19) “Cursed is anyone who denies a favorable judgment to the foreigners, orphans, or widows.’ And all the people will reply, ‘Amen’
6.) Choose Freedom. Choose Jesus.
All humanity is in need of God’s radical grace which has the power to transform us from the inside out. We need the power and discipline of the Spirit of God to walk in victory and freedom in this life. We must choose to accept the free gift of Jesus AND be led according to His Spirit in day-to-day life.
What thoughts come to life when you hear “free gift"? Probably a product demo to get the free gift at the end? Like watching a cooking demo and listening to a sales pitch on pans to get the free cruise at the end? Often with no intention of actually buying the cookware or whatever it is. Or the crap headphones you got at 4:01 in the morning when you lined up at JCPenney at 2:30 am on black Friday in 2008. Free gifts in the world are often worthless, or worse, they come with a catch… So it reasons to believe that a modern world struggles with the idea of a free gift of this magnitude.
Now I want you to imagine the person who loves you most, and imagine they got you a gift. An outlandish gift, something your heart desires, that is so big you dare not even ask for it. Something just for you, exactly tailored to your personality, your life, your heart. That's what our loving God has done for you. Only its “exceedingly and abundantly more than you could ask or imagine.” (Eph. 3:20) The word says everyone who believes receives it (Acts 10:43), Salvation is a free gift but it doesn't stop there. Jesus himself said “I am the door.” (John 10:9) Through him we can enter into the fullness of the promises and blessings of the Kingdom of God outlined in his Word. Things like healing, peace, joy, and power, are promised to every child adopted into God’s own family.
But there is a catch, following Christ is expensive. You give up the right to think and do as you please. You give up worldly ideas of comfort, security, and control. You give up your hurts, habits, and hangups, your victim mentality, guilt, and shame. You give up your identity, your treasure, and all that you held dear you count as rubbish. You give up your very hopes and dreams to be purified with Holy fire. Why? Why would anyone do that?
1) Because He’s that good. He’s SO GOOD guys, hear me by the Spirit of God everything this world offers pales in comparison to the glory of God
2) (Matthew 16:25) “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”
How do we do that? How do I give up my life? (Matthew 6:31-33) “Do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” God promises to meet all of your needs and lavish you with blessings if you will only put Him first. So how do we put Him first practically? We acknowledge Him in all our ways, we honor Him with all our choices, we submit to Him and obey whether we agree or not, whether we understand or not.
The Bible says we will be held accountable for what we do with the information we have received. Now is the defining moment. The turning point. It’s time to give up your perspective of the world and allow Jesus to replace it with divine insight. It’s time to give up all the worries of this life and allow Jesus to replace it with the Peace of God which surpasses all understanding. Allow him to replace your anger, fear, pain, and defects of character with the pure and lovely fruits of the Spirit. Today you can CHOOSE to leave behind a life apart from God and become His child. Allow the blood of Christ to cover the filthy rags of your righteousness with the pure white robes of His, offering you unbridled access to enter the Holy of Holies, the manifest presence of the Most High God.
Don’t die in the wilderness. You must choose to trust, choose to believe, and choose to walk into the promise of God as he calls you. You may never get another chance.
Guided repentance and salvation prayer
Right now you can make the choice that will secure your eternity. Eternal glory in Heaven where the streets are paved with gold and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. (Revelation 21)
-Romans 10:9 says “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
-Now is the moment of your Salvation! No one else can do it for you. Not your mama, or your praying granny, not your pastor or the prayer team. You must make this decision for yourself and be honest in your heart.
-Say this prayer out loud
-Spirit of the living God.
-I acknowledge your presence.
-I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ of Nazareth was the Son of God.
-That he lived, he died, and God raised Him from the dead with all power.
-I receive the gift of salvation that was purchased for me on the cross.
-I CHOOSE to put my faith and trust in you, the loving God, the perfect God, the merciful and kind God, the living and still speaking God.
-Today I give you my life and I receive yours. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
-Forgive my sins. Wash me in the precious blood of Christ and baptize me in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
-Teach me to obey all of your commands.
-I AM born again! (Matthew 28:19)
-Congratulations! Your name has just been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. (Revelation 20:15)
-You will spend eternity in Heaven with God. (John 3:16)
-You are now in Christ and nothing in all creation could ever separate you from the love of God. (Romans 8:39)
-All your sins are forgiven. Every single one. Never again will the Lord remember them (Hebrews 8:12)

-I challenge you if you’re a new believer to read your Word every single day for the next 7 days. Set an alarm on your phone and commit to at least 15 minutes a day (start in the New Testament or find a devotional to follow) and then give God 5 minutes to speak and be ready and willing to write down what He says as an act of faith. I promise you, your life will never be the same.
-May the Spirit lead you into all Truth (John 16:13)
-Lastly, God wants to bring people alongside you to support you, find a local church, and get connected. Don’t hesitate to shop around. Ask God to lead you to the right one and the Spirit to help you discern it.
-Get baptized with water. It’s a public declaration of your new life. Jesus himself was baptized and he said “It is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.”
-Ezekiel 36:25-26 says “And I will sprinkle on you pure water, and you will be clean from all of your uncleanness, and I will cleanse you from all of your idols. And I will give a new heart to you, and a new spirit I will give into your inner parts, and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh, and I will give to you a heart of flesh.
